The 16th annual Sausagefest is fast approaching. July seems like it is a long way off, but the annual countdown takes time to tabulate and assemble. Last year’s countdown was incredible. Hard to top “Ace of Spades” as the #1 song. Attendees are now being harassed for their 2017 lists. Mine is in — but there are many more to be submitted. Voting for your Sausagefest countdown songs is known as “paying your Rock and Roll taxes”, as Jeff Woods below knows:
Just like real taxes, sometimes you have to pester people to get them in before the deadline. What is Sausagefest without a countdown (and some delicious lamb too)? You know, after pondering the one meme for a while I have to say: I would have voted for Trump if he had promised to build a wall around Led Zeppelin and protect me from ever having to hear “Stairway to Heaven” again.

Only 5 days to go before I get meat and taxes. We have to pay our taxes AT the actual Sausagefest now. The idea was, no more excuses for being late with your taxes. You have to write down 100 songs or you don’t get any next year.

Yes I did! And…correct. That is the drawback. Any songs to come out over the next year, forget it. One year Iron Maiden’s Empire of the Clouds made it (#11). That would only happen while it’s a new release. It isn’t likely to happen again.
