The LeBrain Train – 2000 Words or More with Mike Ladano
Episode 31
Shitty week, huh? That’s why I’m here — to help you deal with the bad stuff, and leave feeling better at the end. This week we are here to grieve, to mourn, and also to pay tribute to the greatest guitar player who ever lived: Edward Van Halen.
We’re forgoing the list format, and just talking about what Eddie and his music meant to us personally. Expect the usual suspects on the panel, and please post your comments so we can see what you have to say about King Edward. Together we’ll process this horrible loss, and by the end we’ll feel a little better. Van Halen meant a lot to me. They were one of the first bands I ever liked. We’ll talk about that and lots more.
For best results, view on YouTube. Facebook is notoriously stoppy-starty. For those who tune in early (before the official 7:00 PM start), there will be three unboxings to enjoy.

Is Sir Deke making a return? I believe Van Halen meant a lot to him too.

Indeed they meant a lot to me as well, but I’m will be watching from the sidelines tonight. I appreciate the kind words Harrison…

Why are you on the sidelines? I thought you were going to do it which is why I said I’d join in. Someday we will be on the same show.

I think it’s because he’s still in witness protection

I think he is avoiding me.

Witness protection is the most likely.

Most likely he’s just starstruck. It’s daunting to meet a major motion picture star.

Took me a minute. I was like, WTF is he talking about? Then, oh! Yeah. I saw Mr. Holland’s Opus as well.

Yes, I am sure that is it :-)

What?!?! Why no Deke?

I would have loved Deke with us tonight. Guy deserves a weekend off every once in a while though!

Yeah, I suppose your right. I did work him rather hard this week.

Pretty soon he’s going to be looking for some kind of compensation package.

The experience is his compensation.

Looking forward to it Mike!

Unfortunately, I’m in work tonight but I’m sure you’ll give Eddie the full eulogy he so richly deserves.

Or just afraid to show his sensitive side. There probably isn’t anyone who listens to rock that isn’t touched by Eddie’s passing.

Whatever Deke’s reasons, I know we will miss him tonight as we mourn Eddie.

What a great song. One of the hidden gems of the Hagar years. I hope they remaster that album some day. It sounds like crap.

Agreed on that. I really live the live version. I have a 2 CD bootleg called In Concert with this version and a few others from Live Without a Net. Great stuff and Eddie is underrated as a keyboard player.

I was talking about him with some colleagues this week, remarking on what a solid piano/keyboard player he was (in addition to his ridiculous guitar skills).
And hope for the future — one student in the guitar class asked if we could play a VH song using the speakers as a tribute, and so we enjoyed listening in awe to the 1:42 of Eruption as a class!
