STAR WARS: The Last Jedi – Trailer #2

So much here to absorb and analyze. It’s clear that the danger this time is that Rey is headed down a dark path. Will be the beacon of hope for the galaxy be extinguished forever?

Find out December 15 2017.

  1. I’m still a bit weary of this. Looks great, but it feels like they’re telling the same story… again. Which may be the point. Anakin’s destiny was Luke’s destiny is Rey’s destiny…

      1. I think that Luke was very much in the middle (he did actually go Dark Side at the end of Jedi). Don’t get me wrong, I’ll go see it, but I’m not expecting anything special.

        1. It’s why Luke wasn’t successful teaching. Cause the Dark Side has its grip on him.

It’ll be interesting to see the path they go down, but I have my thoughts and reckon it’ll be entertaining enough. As much as Awakens felt like a retread (some might say close to plagiarism), it felt like a Star Wars flick. That’s why I liked it. I don’t think we’ve seen anything to suggest that there’s anything truly unique or special about this sequilogy.

        2. I didn’t care about the retread aspect, which is undeniable. For my tastes it was different enough. And most importantly they continued the story. We found out “what happened next” and it wasn’t at all what I expected. Now that we are on the second movie of the trilogy with a new writer and director, I think it’ll go in its own unique direction. My only concern is, as usual, “Will I like it?” I sure hope I do, because nothing is worse than hating a Star Wars movie.

        3. I was itching for Dark Side Luke, as that’s what made sense to me. Or perhaps not Dark Side, but certainly no Jedi.

Awakens was too similar, but it felt like a Star Wars flick and that was enough. 8 and 9 really need to set themselves on their own course… there really isn’t any excuse for another homage / retread (plagiarism).

        4. Agreed. Just as the prequels were their own thing. The story has to go in its own direction. Otherwise the whole point of a sequel trilogy means nothing! May as well just watch 1-6.

        5. Completely agree, though I do tend to ignore the prequilogy, as it’s pretty dreadful. Few good moments, but it’s all very disappointing and underwhelming.

        6. BTW I had never considered this before ” the Dark Side has its grip on him.”

But now that you say it, there is something about it that makes sense.

Yoda said “Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny.”

Forever is a long time. Long enough to be an old retired man on an island.

        7. It is. I’m looking forward to seeing it, but at the same time I’m very weary. I guess that’s natural given how I feel about the trilogy and this disappointing the prequilogy was to me.

        8. It would also jibe with Luke’s line in the last trailer, how he knows it’s time for the Jedi to end. If the dark side has him, and he cannot keep the Jedi line going, then it is.

  2. I heard on the radio this morning the director advised fans to Not watch the trailer?
It sounded a bit like telling someone, OK, don’t touch this button – the temptation would be too much!
