A sharp looking Brian Vollmer was accompanied by new Helix guitarist Greg Fraser (Brighton Rock) in a Slayer shirt for this acoustic performance! The show was Start Me Up on Saturday afternoon, and Natalie Richard was the host. It’s A Business Doing Pleasure was the new album, and it was a slightly more acoustic affair for the band.
Topics discussed:
- Inspiration for writing the new songs, and working with Marc Ribler.
- Special guests on the new album.
- Sleepin’ in the doghouse again!
- Doing an album after losing Paul Hackman.
- Touring the new album.
- A stunning acoustic version of “Tug of War” from the new album (and the only performance available with Frase on guitar).
- Brian’s morning routine (which he still maintains today).
- The super-8 videos used in “That Day Is Gonna Come”, and what inspired the song.
- The very first platinum album that MuchMusic received – Walkin’ the Razor’s Edge by Helix!
Cool! I’ll check this out. Love the old interviews.

I have 3 coming this week. Jex’s suggestion for when I don’t feel like writing.

The remaining videos are a little dicey, because many of them are partial, but I will find a way to get them online. The holy grail this week is a 1988 interview with Rob Halford where he talks about Stock, Aitken and Waterman in detail. Lots of real info about that session, which is so hard to come by. That will be a must-see. 20 minutes of Rob!

Cool Halford one. That will get a ton of hits.

Maybe, I never can tell! Right now Winger acoustic is doing well, because they are on tour. Same with Blackie Lawless.

Man, I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I miss THIS Vollmer. Stop being an old grump and go back to your old self, Brian! We know you still have it in you…
Cool to see a young Fraze, too!

Brian, are you listening? (No, he’s not. I tagged Helix on twitter and they always ignore all my posts.)

Natalie’s legs and underwear are really distracting.
