KOBRA AND THE LOTUS cover IRON MAIDEN’s “The Wicker Man”

I’m not sure where I stand on this band.  Brittany Paige’s vocals are hit or miss for me.  I realize she’s classically trained and all that.  Doesn’t mean I have to automatically like it.

Regardless, I think it’s cool that they chose “The Wicker Man” to cover.  Check it out below, starting at the 9 minute mark.  It’s not a bad cover, but nobody can touch Bruce Dickinson.

        1. Ahh Gene.

The Canadian press is all over this band, but I don’t think it’s my thing. While I think their style is great traditional metal, her voice is really…I dunno.

        2. You know what else, if you check their wikipedia page, they’ve already changed both guitar players and the bassist. Only the drummer and singer is original. That can’t be good.

        3. Yes and I think that’s the case with a lot of metal bands today. Competent players, without a lot of personality or character. I guess I’m an old fart who likes old bands.

        4. Absolutely, there are still great bands with personality but for every one of them there’s a gazillion mediocre ones. I think it’s because they are all too influenced just by other Metal bands. The old classic bands had outside influences like Blues, Jazz etc… that they used in their Metal. And the best of the newer bands are the same. I think even my “newer” bands might still be pretty old though…
