Episode 156: The April Wine Album Review with Tim Durling

Hot on the heels of his Fleetwood Mac and Night Ranger books, Tim is back!Β  Β This time it’s with an April Wine Album Review, and it’s a good one.Β  Durling tends to focus on artists that don’t already have books available.Β  If you’ve ever wanted to get into April Wine, this is the book and this is the show!

Unlike last time with Fleetwood Mac, Mike will be hosting while Harrison has the day off.Β  Cohosting, if schedules align, will be book contributor D’Arcy Briggs.

We also have, for the third week in a row, former Helix drummer Archie Gamble with a clip.Β  This time he’s going to tell us about Jerry Mercer’s legendary drum solo.

It’s the Sign of the Gypsy Queen, you don’t have to check All Over Town.Β Β You can buy the book at your local Amazon.Β  You too can be a Roller, or a Hard Rock Kid, Tonite!Β  Check out the show as we quiz Mr. Durling on all things April Wine.

Special πŸ…»πŸ…ΈπŸ†…πŸ…΄ Episode featuring guest Tim Durling & Uncle Meat

And guest list from Jake

Episode 138: Top Ten Songs of QueensrΓΏche

Raise ’em up!Β  Uncle Meat wanted to count down the Top 10 songs from QueensrΓΏche, a band we have yet to tackle on Grab A Stack of Rock.Β  So, we looked into the Eyes of a Stranger, placed Hand on Heart, and tried to shed some Nocturnal Light on these songs.Β  But it wasn’t Just Us!Β  Along for the ride is terrestrial DJ Tim Durling, and we will also have a guest list from Jake (Not From State Farm).

Spanning the EP all the way to Digital Noise Alliance, QueensrΓΏche have a lot of songs to sift through.Β  For this special episode, Mike even went as far as to acquire a copy of Frequency Unknown, the album that Geoff Tate made before he lost the rights to the QueensrΓΏche name.Β  (For added fun, this copy was gifted by Matthew Phillips, who had three remixed CDs sent to him by Cleopatra records.Β  This is not the retail Billy Sherwood remix, but the rare mail order only version dubbed “we remix, you decide”.)

Even though QueensrΓΏche arguably had a “dark period” with some albums that didn’t ignite the fire in fans, they also had a strong comeback with Todd LaTorre on lead vocals.Β  Will any Todd songs make the list tonight?Β  We’ll be Breaking the Silence to reveal all!

Special πŸ…»πŸ…ΈπŸ†…πŸ…΄ Episode featuring guest Tim Durling

Episode 136: Collecting Quirks of the Music Nerds

On tonight’s special episode of Grab A Stack of Rock, we welcome back special guest Tim Durling, for a controversial topic:Β  collecting!Β  Every collector has different “needs” and goals.Β  For example, Harrison and I seek a physical copy of every officially released song, and versions of songs, by the bands we collect.Β  Tim has different goals in mind.Β  On deck for tonight’s discussion:

  • Controvery! Tim doesn’t open vinyl!
  • Tim and Mike have formats they can’t play!
  • What we buy, what we don’t and why?
  • CD/DVD/Bluray combo packages – where do we file them?
  • KISS Solo Albums – What order?
  • Box Sets – how do we file those?
  • Filing “Alice” under “A”?
  • Filing side projects under main bands?
  • Why Mike didn’t like having two copies of any one thing.
  • What is “complete” to us?
  • Do we collect air?Β  And why not?
  • Why Mike will not share files.
  • Mad About Purchases.
  • At what point do I decide I’m “done” collection any band?

This is sure to be a wild discussion.Β  Don’t miss it tonight!

VIDEO: You won’t believe it! Mail from Tim, Marco and Amazon!

Who doesn’t love musical mail?Β  Check out some thoughtful gifts from Tim Durling and Marco D’Auria, plus a really cool surprise from Amazon.

Marco and Tim were apparently on the same wavelength when these two parcels are sent.

Sometimes Amazon’s listings are not accurate, and you have to take a chance.Β  Fortunately their return policy makes things easy if you ordered the wrong thing.Β  In this case, I ordered a CD that I need for an upcoming show.Β  I found a Japanese import reasonably priced, but there was also a deluxe edition that I was told was really good.Β  Check out what happens next.Β  You won’t believe it!

Some interesting charting albums here from the 2001 soundtrack to Black Sabbath’s debut LP. Tim asked me to say a few words about Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath for this episode, so check it out!

Found Musical Treasures! Last Video Before House Renos! [VIDEO]

At long last, it is time for house renovations!Β  We are receiving new windows and doors, as Phase One of this long awaited project.Β  It begins today, July 28 2025.

In preparation for this project, I have dug up and rediscovered some cool treasures.Β  We will be taking a look at more of them at a later time, but for this video, I decided to take advantage of the calm before the storm.Β  Before the dust starts a-flyin’, let’s have a quick look at some fun re-discovered items in the Grab A Stack collection.

This video is for fans of toys, cassettes, Harrison Kopp, Kiss, Tim Durling, or country music.Β  That’s a lot of people, so I hope you check it out!Β  It’s live now on YouTube, so give the link a click!
