And on further reflection, funny as it is, it’s also kind of disrespectful. I know that nobody takes that stuff seriously, it’s just a trophy. But it is honest recognition of an entire (brilliant) career. A simple thanks would also suffice.

I saw the whole thing for the first time this week and I can’t imagine how Geddy and Neil were feeling standing there in front of a huge group of their peers. Probably like I did. I went from laughing to giggling to saying nothing to “this has gone on WAYYYY to long” It went from funny to awkward to kinda embarrassing fairly quickly. That being said, the RRHOF is a fucking joke anyways. Their selection process is completely arbitrary and apparently quite random. Kiss, Cheap Trick, Foreigner….not in the HOF and Donna Summer in….

I read a quote from Geddy that said he didn’t know what was going on, and he wanted to kill Alex! Then he got a glimpse of his facial expressions and saw the crowd was laughing, and got the joke. I was surprised as well how long it went on.
RRHOF…why do we care? Public Enemy is in there but not Kiss. Deep Purple. Jethro Tull. It just makes me mad thinking about it!

After the 20 minute ramblings of most of the other presenters – you had to be there to appreciate this! The holy trinities concise acknowledgements were a breath of fresh air. Alex’s speech was one of the shortest of the entire night. He said more with no words than anyone and it was freaking HILARIOUS!!! Well done, well said and brilliant!
