Paul Di’Anno was one of the first singers I knew and loved. He’s running free now, with Clive Burr, and no longer in pain.
Paul has clearly not been in good physical shape lately. Once walking with a cane, Paul had been in a wheelchair for some time now. Paul has now lost his wheels, and is free to fly.
When Iron Maiden released their debut album in 1980, they were building on five years of battles in the clubs, building their repertoire and their reputation. Much of it had to do with Paul Di’Anno, the short(er) haired lead singer with the punk rock attitude. His sneer was embedded in those first two Maiden albums, both legendary.Β Replacing him seemed impossible at the time!
I can’t believe we have to do this, but on Friday we will be paying tribute to Paul on Grab A Stack of Rock.
This sucks!

This is very sad news, Mike,Β but thanks so much for sharing it as I hadnβt heard. Henry.

It literally came out just before I posted this. Had to change this week’s show and everything!

Between Paul dying and Jake E. Lee getting shot, it’s been a shitty week in rock.

I do have some good news. Holen’s Halloween post goes up again this week, and also, Dr. K’s new album is out in 3 weeks.

You’ll like this last Halloween one I’m working on I hope.

I sent it to you a few days ago. It was much harder than I expected to get a grip on that crazy movie. I’m not sure I did.

I have it scheduled for the 31st! Jex loves this movie so I am curious for his reaction.

Rest in peace Paul, I’m sure he and Clive are back jamming away together in Rock Heaven.

We will be paying AWESOME tribute this Friday. Harrison will be back, and we have Johnny Metal and Metal Roger too!

Thanks for paying tribute to him! It’s so sad he never reached the same level of success after his time with Maiden.

A really sad day. Paul for all his faults was one of a kind. The Architects Of Chaos album is a banger. Rest easy legend.

We will be paying tribute to a great frontman on Friday night. I’m currently sifting through an interview I did with his guitarist Steph Honde, looking for cool clips we can use.

Iβll be here tonight: https://colos-saal.de/komplettes-programm/programm-nach-genres/classicrock-hardrock/the-iron-maidens-3689.html
Usually, they play stuff up until the time Bruce left, but occasionally something from the Blaze era or after Bruce and Adrian rejoined. I wonder if the first two albums will feature more than usual tonight.
Theyβre a really great band. Best online comment Iβve seen: βThe original band had better hair.β

Will you be joining us Friday as well? Sounds like you have an awesome show coming. I’m well familiar with them!

I donβt know. Friday I have a meeting with fellow Dutch speakers and also a physics talk (guess my fourth favourite pastime along with those two and music!). It says βlive at 1amβ, but what time zone is that? Iβm one time zone behind London, but still on daylight-saving time (until this weekend).

βBehindβ should be βahead ofβ, i.e. itβs an hour later here than in London. (Well, as long as the UK switches from daylight-saving time at the same time as the Continent. I remember when that wasnβt the case.)

Iβm also seeing them tonight. When I bought tickets, it wasnβt clear when we would be on holiday, so I bought tickets for two shows. As it worked out, I can go to both. Seeing a new guitarist stage left, I read up on the recent lineup changes. I first saw them with Cox and Strauss, then Cox and Stringfield, now Stringfield and Kimelman. I then decided to read up on what the current and former members have done elsewhere, and discovered that Wanda Ortiz is principal bassist with a symphony orchestra. https://southcoastsymphony.org/orchestra/

Actually not Shani Kimelman but Alyssa Day; apparently the two alternate the βAdrianβ spot.

Maiden played in Toronto on the 26th! It’s cool you say the Iron Maidens the day after the big Toronto show! Maybe one day I will see them. I had a ticket, but no one to go with. I guess some of the Thunder Bay guys were there.
