Like ships passing in the night, once again I cannot seem to hook up with Logan Collins at the same time and place! Logan and I did, however, contribute to this fantastic episode of Tim’s Vinyl Confessions.
With the loss of Ace Frehley fresh in our minds, the three of us go through our Ace Frehley CD collections. There are certain items in my collection you may not have seen before, such as a promo single for “Do Ya”. We engaged in deep discussion on each album, the key tracks, and the specific versions we have on display. Most of us, we miss the Ace and spend most of our time just talking about how great he was.
Check out this episode of Tim’s Vinyl Confessions, which will premiere later today.
John Clauser is back with his Monday Night Metal chat! Tonight we will be telling ghost stories! Halloween is near and spooky season is upon us! All of us will take turns telling some fun stories that are not too dark. Just right for your hot chocolate by the screen tonight.
Joining Johnny this episode:
Dan Chartrand from Off the Charts
Sidney Cini from Slogan’s Rock and Metal Extravaganza
‘Twas my honour to be back on My Music Corner with Johnny Clauser on Monday night! Well, to be fair, I invited myself, but it was a free for all, so that’s allowed!
Joining Johnny this episode:
Dan Chartrand from Off the Charts
Sidney Cini from Slogan’s Rock and Metal Extraganza
Jake Not from State Farm
Ashley Geisler from Ash’s Concerts and Video Showroom
Johnny asked us all of a series of questions including:
(The title of this episode is a bit of a misnomer, because White Lion did release an album in 1991 that we’re going to discuss!) HELLO! I will be LIVE Saturday August 16 at 5:00 PM EST to discuss the early discography of New Jersey’s White Lion! Check out Slogan’s Rock and Metal Extravaganza for this special live recounting of the band’s best songs from their first four albums:
Fight to Survive (1985)
Pride (1987)
Big Game (1989)
Mane Attraction (1991)
We decided to forego 2008’s Return of the Pride for this discussion. A decent album, but without Vito Bratta on guitar (or any other member of the old White Lion, not even Tommy “T-Bone” Caradonna or Jimmy DeGrasso) we decided not to include it in this episode. Speaking with Sidney about this show, I was pretty adamant that Vito Bratta was so important to the band’s sound that I didn’t consider Return of the Pride to be a real White Lion album. More like Tramp’s White Lion.
Join Sidney, Joseph Suto, Danney Alkana, Chez Cetra (of TVC fame) and myself for this discussion. The job is simple: Just pick one favourite song from each album. Let’s see how much we agree/disagree on this underrated band.
Thanks to Sidney from Slogan’s Rock and Metal Extravaganza for inviting me to send in a video for this Poison-ous episode! (Logan declined to appear – not a Poison fan!) I was recently asked to participate in this list show, picking my favourite songs from each Poison studio album. Of course, I had to do something different, so I included Swallow This Live too, so that I could use one of their best singles “So Tell Me Why”. You will also get a list from Tim Durling in this video featuring Sidney and his guest Joseph Suto.
It’s pretty easy to slag Poison; I should know as I get enough troll-y comments about them. However, as you will see below, Poison have plenty of great material. You could make your own “best of” from these lists that are better than the ones you can buy at retail.
BONUS video: Some Poison-ous backstory with Sidney and some OCD…
Please join Sidney, Logan, Tim Durling and myself LIVE at 3:00 PM EST Saturday January 11 for this special double-header episode!
This is my second ever episode of Slogan’s Rock and Metal Extravaganza, my first being Black Sabbath’s Dehumanizer. I am excited to discuss this Triumph album, The Sport of Kings, which I have owned for 26 years now. It has been a love/hate affair over the decades, with some undue influence from Martin Popoff colouring my impressions too much in the 2000s. Have I come back full circle? Find out this afternoon.
Then, their bonus review is Montrose’s self titled debut album, a record which I have never tackled on this site. Check out the back half of this episode for our take on this legendary album, with the expert himself Tim Durling. I mean, he kinda wrote the book, didn’t he?
Catch us LIVE!
(By the way, there’s a story about the feature image here that I will explain during the show.)
Please welcome new channel Slogan’s Rock & Metal Extravaganza to the scene! I met Logan and Sidney through the Contrarians. These two young knowledgeable guys have a passion for rock, and I dig their youthful perspective. Logan, for example, was ten years old when Black Sabbath’s 13 (2013) came out. When they asked me if I’d like to appear on their show to talk about Black Sabbath’s Dehumanizer album, I had to say yes. I love that album and have since it was released. Oh, how I remember those days!
Here’s how their show works: right now they are on episode two of their Triumph series, A Triumphant Catalogue. In the first 45 minutes of this episode, the two co-hosts and special guest Byron go through the album track by track. Sidney provided additional chart numbers for Canada. Then, at 45 minutes, they do the same with Black Sabbath’s Dehumanizer with me as additional guest! Each week, they let a trivia winner pick a bonus album for them to review the following week. Cool concept.
For this discussion, I showed off all my Dehumanizer-related Black Sabbath stuff. We broke down the context and history of this album, the participation of Cozy Powell and Tony Martin, and the fallout. We also went through this album track for track and rated it at the end. This was a passionate, knowledge-filled discussion with plenty of perspective from the early 1990s.
Great show boys! I will be happy to have you all on Grab A Stack of Rock. Give them a Like and Subscribe.
