I don’t know when I first heard Little Richard, but I do know when I first loved Little Richard: 1987. Predator.
Richard Wayne Penniman was 87. He’ll always be remembered for “Tutti Frutti”, “Long Tall Sally”, and “Good Golly Miss Molly”. His piano work was astounding and his voice unmistakable. I’m gonna miss Little Richard. Rest in peace.
There was no one like him and won’t be again. He was a trailblazer.

I think Predator was an early introduction for me too. Also, seeing him in the film Down And Out In Beverly Hills. He was awesome in that!

He really added the electricity to it all. I just loved all the campness and sexual ambiguity too, paved the way for all manner of interesting corners in the decades to come.
