I’m not sure where I stand on this band. Brittany Paige’s vocals are hit or miss for me. I realize she’s classically trained and all that. Doesn’t mean I have to automatically like it.
Regardless, I think it’s cool that they chose “The Wicker Man” to cover. Check it out below, starting at the 9 minute mark. It’s not a bad cover, but nobody can touch Bruce Dickinson.

The band is solid. She’s sort of… one pitch. Is she related to Blaze Bayley at all? Maybe a cousin or something?

Not unless Blaze has a cousin from Alberta!

All just seems a bit workmanlike to me! Don’t like her voice much. Isn’t Gene Simmons looking after this band?

Yes. Gene gave them their break, I believe. Gene probably just thinks the singer is hot.

She’s female right? So probably!

Ahh Gene.
The Canadian press is all over this band, but I don’t think it’s my thing. While I think their style is great traditional metal, her voice is really…I dunno.

They’ve been getting a bit of press here too but they’re are just so run of the mill. The band is competent but that’s not exactly a recommendation it it? And her voice is a bit shite.

You know what else, if you check their wikipedia page, they’ve already changed both guitar players and the bassist. Only the drummer and singer is original. That can’t be good.

But that’s the worst of it! No-one will notice or care because none of the players would have had any personality or identity.

Yes and I think that’s the case with a lot of metal bands today. Competent players, without a lot of personality or character. I guess I’m an old fart who likes old bands.

Absolutely, there are still great bands with personality but for every one of them there’s a gazillion mediocre ones. I think it’s because they are all too influenced just by other Metal bands. The old classic bands had outside influences like Blues, Jazz etc… that they used in their Metal. And the best of the newer bands are the same. I think even my “newer” bands might still be pretty old though…

They just covered “Rainbow In The Dark” for their new single, FYI.

Hope it’s less meh than their Wicker Man.

A thought: If Blaze had stayed in the band, is this what the next Maiden would have sounded like?

Maybe. And playing bars in Alberta, because all the fans would have been gone by then.
