Is live streaming in 2020 the new movie night? The new concert? The new drinks with friends?
My longtime friend Robert Daniels (I believe we met 35 years ago this year) has begun live streaming public domain movies on Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm. His live stream on March 25 featured two films, including A Case of Spring Fever (1940).
Now it might be the isolation, or lack of anything better going on, but I thought A Case of Spring Fever was hilarious! A man is fed up fixing his broken couch, and wishes he never had to see another spring again. His wish is granted by “Coily”, an animated spring who makes all the rest of the springs in the world vanish! The man can’t use a telephone or drive his car without all the springs that go into it. Each time the man encounters a device that requires springs, Coily appears to taunt him!
“Noooo springs!” ridicules Coily. “Heh heh heh!”
Eventually the man takes it all back and wishes for the world’s springs to be restored. Then, with his golf buddies, he just won’t shut up about springs! On and on he goes, about everything that relies on springs.
Maybe I am easily entertained, but I thought Coily and his friend were absolutely hilarious! Tune in to Rob’s live stream on Wednesday nights, 7:00 PM Eastern Standard Time, for more public domain hilarity with commentary!

Made public domain because they changed the title and forgot to add the copyright logo back in, which sucks because it was a success and Romero saw nothing from it.
I’ve got the Criterion Blu-ray, just because I need the best print available. 4K restoration from the source elements, yada yada yada. This free one should do you fine though. Harrison, this is a clazzic. Watch it!!!
And the worst public domain movie ever?
Don’t watch that, unless it’s the Mystery Science Theater take on it.

Public domain, no shit!? Well hell, that’s incredible. Of course you don’t need to convince me — I love it.
Funny thing, I see 4K everywhere, I don’t think I even have the ability to play 4K.

I think you may be right Mike – in the _____ is the new _____ format, Live Streams are the new Drinks with Friends. And it’s nice as the friends can even be in different time zones!

Yes sir they can be, and I plan on changing up my times from week to week to give different people a chance to tune in. I might do an outdoor live stream this afternoon if it gets any warmer outside.
But kudos to Rob for doing this. I look forward to watching on Wednesday nights now. This week was “The Chicken of Tomorrow”.

My favorite movie is Capra’s It’s a Wonderful life. Have been watching it every Christmas for years. Liked the A Case of Spring Fever film, thank u. Listening to Loudness Lightning Strikes at the moment. Earlier this week been playing The Glove Blue Sunshine nonstop. Just got the new Pearl Jam, not sure if I want to open it yet. Not sure if I want any new album to be locked in my memory to these times.

I am waiting to buy the new Pearl Jam, until stores re-open. Either Amazon or whatever local stores re-open. This is a little freaky and I don’t mind putting new music on hold. Like you said, what music do you want to be locked in your memory to these times?
