Worst KISS Song on Every Album – the list

By the suggestion of Peter Kerr!  Hot on the heels of our best KISS song lists, here are my WORST songs by my favourite band!  One song for every studio album, plus one song to represent the many extra tunes that Kiss have in their discography!  Enjoy – or don’t enjoy -the list of stinkiest Kiss songs of all time!  (Peeeeww!)

NOTE:  Some of these albums have no truly bad songs.  Hotter Than Hell and Destroyer, for example.  Therefore, I just had to stick my neck out with my “least best”.  This is a much more difficult list than picking favourites.

A really hard list.  Worst song from Hot in the Shade?  Get in line.  Worst song from Lick It Up or Creatures? Much harder.  Even The Elder was difficult.  In most cases I went with my first instinct.  I hope you enjoy this list – and sorry Joey about “I Love It Loud”!

  1. Yeah, we disagree on a lot of these, especially I Love It Loud, Freak, I’m Alive and a few more. I liked your best of way better!! LOL!!!! I did a best and worst song on each album a couple years ago. It was fun. I’ve done it for a few bands. need to do more of those.

  2. I can agree with “Nothing Can Keep Me From You,” Paul doesn’t seen the one for singing ballads, leave that to Peter. However, I also have to disagree on “I Love it Loud” as it’s my favourite KISS song, period.

  3. I really like a lot of these, Almost Human, I Love It Loud, I’m Alive, Never Enough. I used to dislike Do You Love Me, but it grew on me.

…and I’m not even a tenth of as big a fan as you. As a massive Kiss fan, making this must have killed you.

  4. I agreed with you a lot on the like, but differ a lot on this one!

The ones that I’d jump to are Great Expectations on Destroyer and Then She Kissed Me on Love Gun being by far my least favorites. “My Way” and “When Your Walls Come Down” are tied on Crazy Nights, but there’s a lot of shit to go around there.

“Odyssey” for The Elder. I like Mr. Blackwell!

  5. I wanted to make a smartass comment about how all the songs are horrible, but now I’m going to listen to Creatures of the Night because I enjoy I Love It Loud. And if that’s the worst track on it the rest must be banging!

    1. You know, I could have picked Great Expectation instead of Do You Love Me. It was close. In the end, I just kind of always felt like Do You Love Me wasn’t a full song. Just a skeleton of a song to me.

    1. I’ll post the video when it is up, but in the meantime I’ll remind everyone of what the late, great George Balasz said on the day of release, when I went over to his house to listen to Crazy Nights and record it. I’ll never forget. When I’ll Fight Hell to Hold You came on, he said “If a song this bad made the album, just think of all the songs that didn’t and how bad they must be!”

      1. That’s a great comment. I have a few hardcore KISS Army friends and they have a similar view.

        But…

When compared to melodic rock tracks hitting the market, the song works.

Plus Paul is singing in such a higher pitch, really highlighting his vocal range and Bruce decorates very nicely.

        1. And not sure if it’s just my ears but the Chorus chords are very reminiscent to Creatures Of The Night chords, which is no surprise since Adam Mitchell is a co-writer. But as a fan of Bruce, he does excellent trying to put his guitar voice into the songs.

Against great work on these lists. They sounded like fun to put together. And it gets people talking about music, which is the purpose of the blogs.
