Just in time for the long weekend, some new tunes! I also ordered a book: Sean Kelly’s Metal On Ice, as reading material for next week’s Sausagefest! Seen below: Original Soundtrack to the movie Still Crazy (thank you The Earl of Swirl for reminding me about this great film) and the new Helix album, Bastard of the Blues.

Love the fact that Kelly got right into bands esp like Coney Hatch,Kick Axe,Dwarfs,H Suite and Helix. Bands that had a bit of a American Push but came up short.
Excellent read Mike, you won’t be disappointed!

Man! Still Crazy! That’s a movie I’d forgotten all about … I actually liked that a lot. Need to see if I can track that down!

It’s so good. It was REALLY expensive for a while. $40 for the DVD. I paid a lot less.

Wow. I actually had a look for this and it’s way more expensive than I’d have expected for a DVD. Even for a second hand copy!

How much is it going for? I’m glad I got mine and kept it this time.

Just about £25 on Amazon. Cheapest second-hand copy being £4.99 (which surprises me – second-hand DVDs are generally really very very cheap nowadays).

Yikes. Yeah and I don’t usually trust Amazon sellers. Too many bad experiences. I only buy from ones with 99 or up approval ratings.

Sausagefest, what a brilliant summer tradition – is there a ‘lists’ component again this year? If so, looking forward to seeing the results!

Gotta love Still Crazy, not seen it in years and years though.

Soundtrack to ‘Still Crazy’ is excellent (as is the film)!

I’ve listened to the whole CD twice now. I love that Billy’s backstage singalong is on here. Everything is, that I can tell.

I had that book in my hands a while back. One of these days…
I’m glad you got the soundtrack. It was simple enough to find. Yay for you!
New Helix!!! Oooooo…

It’s good too, that soundtrack…years ago it was $30 or $40 from shady Amazon sellers. Now it’s reasonably priced from Amazon themselves. Who knew? You did! I didn’t even think to check Amazon based on past failure.

“ALL OVER THE WORLD” Yeeaaaah! I found the whole soundtrack on Grooveshart, that was first song I cranked too. So great.
And props back in return, been on a serious Deep Poiple kick, even “Come Taste The Band” and my two Lord solo “Gemini Suite” & “Windows”

Right on! I don’t have those two. I have the Deep Purple version of Gemini Suite though, which was issued in the early 90’s. I have a Lord compilation with some of the Windows tracks. And I have his Concerto For Group and Orchestra, with Bruce Dickinson.

Original Gemini had Albert Lee on guitar instead of Blackmore, Yvonne Elliman and Tony Ashton on vocals, and Paice, Glover. He just inserted segments of that into Eberhard Schoener’s score for WINDOWS, a little better but still only a learning process for the Concerto, where he finally got it right.

Ashton/Lord/Paice is another album I’d like to get, speaking of these fellows.

Me too, it’s a real departure for Lord, more jazzy.
Also want Ashton, Gardner & Dyke; Tony’s only chart success, “Resurrection Shuffle”.
I have BADGER album with Gardner, Dyke, and Tony Kaye (ex-Yes)

Jesus, you’ve got a lot more of that stuff than I do.
I heard Glover’s Butterfly Ball is being issued on DVD.

Would be VERY interested in seeing that. My sister has the Butterfly Ball album, the only vinyl she kept when she gave me her collection. I’ve only got his “Elements” album.
