We got our photo in under 24 hours! Not Dead Yet: John Cleese and the Holy Grail at 50 VIP Show and Experience

We were promised our photo in 72 hours, and we got it in under 24.

What this photo doesn’t show is the gentle chit-chat with John Cleese.

He also shook my hand twice which I thought was kind.ย  Check out the entire experience below!

REVIEW

A once-in-a-lifetime experience was had on Oct 3 2026 in Kitchener, Ontatio. It was over in a flash, so I had to document it live as soon as I got home, from Not Dead Yet: John Cleese and the Holy Grail at 50.

Last Christmas, my mom said “When will I ever have the chance to meet John Cleese again?”ย  And so for $374.75 each, she bought three VIP tickets.ย  One for her, one for me, and one for Dr. K.ย  With hindsight I wish she also bought one for my dad.ย  Not only would he have loved the show, but I think he would have lost his mind meeting Mr. Cleese at the end of it.

The show began at 7:30, but we were there well early to get a couple drinks and enjoy our front row seats.ย  The stage was bare except for a big screen, a table, two chairs, and stuffed bunny rabbit.

First, Mr. Cleese was introduced to a standing ovation.ย  He graciously thanked us all for coming to watch this film that he started writing in 1974.ย  Then, the film began.ย  It was the extended version of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, but I believe that they ran the wrong version of the movie.ย  Mr. Cleese specifically said that it was supposed to be a version that he himself edited, removing the Three Headed Knight scene.ย  That scene was in fact shown, as well as the “GET ON WITH IT!” bits from the extended version.ย  A minor slipup.

After the film, an 86 year old John Cleese returned for approximately an hour of Q&A with the audience, wearing bunny rabbit slippers.ย  Some questions were great, some less so, but being a total pro, Mr. Cleese’s answers were also entertaining and interesting.

The thing that surprised me the most was how much Mr. Cleese loathes the last 10 to 15 minutes of Holy Grail, which was assembled by Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam without his (and presumably the others’) input.ย  “It doesn’t make sense!” said Mr. Cleese multiple times.ย  And here is the main takeaway that we got from the John Cleese Holy Grail at 50 Q&A:ย  Writing is #1 for him.ย  Performing, comedy, commentary are all second.ย  He says they did 13 drafts on A Fish Called Wanda‘s script before it was good enough.ย  Holy Grail’s ending was not written, made no sense, and he really dislikes it.ย  He also dislikes the Three Headed Knight scene, and wanted it edited out.ย  The scene was kept because Eric Idle’s knight, Sir Robin, had nothing to do after they split up.

He discussed many projects including a new comedy on cannibalism.ย  He also revealed what inspired the famous Python “parrot” sketch:ย  a used car that Michael Palin bought and tried to return.

Mr. Cleese praised the talents of Kevin Klein, and make fun of Michael Palin’s “horribly boring” travel show multiple times.ย  He reserved sincere praise for his old writing partner, the late great Graham Chapman.ย  He was clearly a special man.ย  The whole show was very warm, andย simply delightful.

And then we met him!

Check out the video below, recorded while still on the high of meeting John Cleese and having this wonderful experience.

@MarriedandHeels Stats & Facts for Fans!

Greetings fans and welcome to Grab A Stack of Rock!ย  The fab @MarriedandHeels has only collaborated with one YouTube channel:ย  us!ย  Some interesting @MarriedandHeels Stats for you from YouTube:

Surprising to see that her male audience skews older.ย  A full 33.7% (over a third) are 55 or over.ย  We knew that she had many older fans – the late, great Bob Wood being one (rest in peace).ย  It’s not shocking to find that viewers are overwhelmingly male, but a strong 15.2% are female.ย  Once, @MarriedandHeels forwarded me some spicy fan-fic written by a female fan.ย  It was pretty hot stuff.ย  Sorry ladies, @MarriedandHeels is 100% straight (though she doesn’t mind when girls find her hot).

But where are they from?ย  @MarriedandHeels has fans all over the world, which is one reason why she does her topless live stream at noon California time.ย  It’s the only way her fans in Europe can see her live.ย  Still, the majority of her fans are American.ย  And, most of you watch her on your phones.

A noticeable portion of you watch her on your smart TV, which is cool.ย  That’s the way most of those videos are best seen!

Some interesting @MarriedandHeels Facts right from the horse’s mouth!ย  (But nothing personal here – nothing she has not shared publicly herself!)

She is from Glendora California, and a proud Californian and American.ย  She has a French and Mexican background.

She is a former marathon runner, and a cancer survivor!

Her sports team is the San Francisco 49’ers, and she also loves Major League Baseball.

Fans might be surprised to learn that her husband Beard Daddy runs their site.ย  He posts the photos and videos every day without @MarriedandHeels’ foreknowledge.ย  He writes the sexy captions before she even wakes up in the morning!ย  When he updates their site in the morning, it is 3 AM California time!ย  She does, however, respond to messages herself.

Another fun fact is that @MarriedandHeels does not pay for the shoes, jewelry, or clothing that she wears in her photo shoots!ย  They are all gifts from fans, or promotional heels, nylons, lingerie etc. sent to her by the companies.ย  When she is done with them, the fans are able to purchase the used articles via her website!

Her favourite animal is the raccoon.

She once had a pair of squirrels living in her backyard named “Vim” and “Vigor”! She also has had a dog named Doobie, a dog named Ranger, cats named Clapton & Fleetwood (twins), Cream, and Crosby, Stills & Nash (triplets).

PHOTOS: KISS – Off The Soundboard – CD version Japan exclusive – Asylum Tour San Antonio TX 12-3-1985

Fresh in today’s mail, it is the latest KISS Off the Soundboard CD, Asylum Tour 1985, in Texas!

“But Mike,” you query.ย  “I thought that was a vinyl exclusive, and I thought it sold out too.”

True, it was a stupid coloured 3 LP set, exclusive to the KISS store, and now sold out except in bundles with a shirt.

The Japanese record company saidย ใ„ใ„ใˆ and issued it on CD anyway.ย  They did a smashing job of it!ย  Some fans received a free sticker; I did not.ย  Inside the cardboard gatefold sleeve was a mini KISS poster, and 2 CDs, each one within its own plastic sleeve within its own printed paper sleeve.ย  The design for this album was a little different from the previous five in that this time there is a picture on the outer cover.

The CD sounds great, and it’s classic fastfastfast 80s Kiss with the unforgettable Eric Carr on drums.ย  That’s why you only see CD 2 in this photo.ย  CD 1 is in the deck!ย  This could have been released officially in 1985.

Happy Birthday Jen

A lovely night was had.

Jen is still as beautiful as they day we met.ย  As we both age, she has retained her youth better than I.ย  I am grateful to have her.ย  She had a wonderful birthday dinner at Golf’s Steakhouse in Kitchener.

She had the prime rib, medium rare.ย  I had the salmon.ย  The soup was vegetable puree.ย  We both had salad bar, and I added some garlic shrimp to my order.

#1137: A Little South of Sanity: What I’ve Been Up To…In Photos

RECORD STORE TALES #1137: A Little South of Sanity: What I’ve Been Up To…In Photos

Madness reigned.

As you may be aware from the last cottage video, disaster struck when we returned home on June 23.ย  My old shelves, which I’ve had over 40 years, finally fell apart, and a few hundred of my precious CDs hit the ground.ย  Some were damaged, some just have broken cases.ย  This was a pretty traumatic experience for a collector.ย  After considering quitting the hobby for good (more grief than it’s worth?), and wasting time and money with a carpenter, I decided to rip my music room apart and see what I could do.

I moved everything around to make space, and then got to work.ย  I chose a couple bookshelves on Amazon.ย  They’re not ideal for CDs, but the music is off the floor now.ย  Shelves are better than floors, even if the discs are in stacks and not rows.ย  The two shelves I chose can hold 350 lbs each.ย  More than enough.ย  They arrived on Saturday.ย  In the time it took to listen to all of Aerosmith’s double live A Little South of Sanity, Jen and I had the shelves built.

A Little South of Sanity more than describes the week I had, mental health-wise.ย  I told people I was done with physical music, and therefore the show and site would be ending.ย  I’d move on to drone videos.ย  I really was ready to sell it all.ย  Looking at my damaged Metallica Live Sh*t box set, which was mint when I bought it in 1997, was heartbreaking.

The new bookshelves were so surprisingly easy to put together (even we could do it!), that I ordered a third to replace an old ugly wooden unit.ย  Then, I began sorting.ย  I’m maybe halfway through putting everything back in alphabetical order.ย  The discs used to be scattered through three rooms.ย  Now I’ve got it down to two!ย  In the end, there will be two CD towers, three of these new bookcases, and a few shelves for box sets.

It’s a work in progress.ย  On Sunday, I spent six hours filing.ย  It felt amazing to see my entire Iron Maiden collection in one place again (excluding box sets and abnormal sized boxes).ย  Soon, all my Deep Purple, Marillion, Aerosmith and Kiss will join them.ย  It’s a long process hindered by a shortage of space, but it’s coming together.

By Saturday, my mental health was good enough that Jen and I went out to the Farmer’s Market for the first time together since her dad was alive.ย  We stocked up on schnitzel, sweets and cheese curds, but the main reason we went was actually quite epic, and relevant.ย  We met, in person, the incredible Nurse Kat.ย  She is the first Grab A Stack of Rock guest that I didn’t know previously, that I have now met in person.ย  And she too had great success, finding lilies to replace the ones eaten by a rabbit.ย  In happy coincidence, both she and Jen were decked out in AC/DC gear.ย  So it was success all around!

I will say with cautious optimism that this summer is looking up.ย  Wish me luck and hope that nothing got permanently destroyed in my music avalanche of 2024!
