Two weeks ago, Rhino Records released a stripped-down version of Gene Simmons’ The Vault box set. For only $80, you could get all 11 CDs including such hits as “My Uncle is a Raft” and “Eskimo Summer”! That’s all I ever wanted. As a collector of physical media, I would love to have, but cannot afford, the full $1500 Vault with all the bells and whistles. This box also includes the famous Van Halen demos for the Love Gun album. To finally have them is unbelievable!

Rocking to the Van Halen tracks right now! Alex’s sound is quite different from Peter Criss! Eddie’s tone isn’t there. You can hear the technique but there is no tone.

Happy you finally got it!! Still hate they discounted it so much…but that is what i get for my lack of patience. And you can’t really tell that is Eddie on those three songs as the tone isn’t there as you said. But still so cool to have.

I cannot believe just how MUCH it is discounted. Something like this should be going for $200 by today’s standards. I would have paid $200.

I think Gene had a handful left and wanted to dump them. That is my guess since it sold out so fast. There couldn’t have been a ton.

To do that though, he would have to have to have produced hundreds more CDs than boxes. I guess we will see the differences (if any) when we do our comparison. We may never know the true story.

I don’t think there are any differences as that book looked exactly like mine.
I wonder if there were a bunch of damaged Vaults so why not sell the insides if they are okay.

Hmm that could be one reason yes! I wish I had bought too. My mom scolded me for not buying too. My sister is making a fortune right now flipping stuff on eBay. She made $2000 in the last 2 months.

With hindsight, I wish I bought two. I sure didn’t expect it to sell out as quickly as it did. I hope for you that it does appear on streaming services!

I’m holding out hope that Gene makes it available for purchase as a download. I would have paid $80 just for a lossy download with a PDF of the book. I don’t need the action figure or coin… just the music.

I just got the figure (really a statue) and coin because… I didn’t look to notice there was a cheaper option!
However a buddy of mine was offered $100 for just the figure, so it doesn’t seem so bad in hindsight.
Here is hoping for a download! If there’s money to be made, Gene will make it.

Yeah I tried to get this and it was gone pretty fast.
The discount was huge compared to the actual Vault.

It was a STEAL. I know a guy who was offered $100 for the statue ALONE. You could easily double or triple your money now.
