Mad Metal Man

“Snow” and Tell: Rock and Roll Collectables on tonight’s LeBrain Train with John and Harrison

This is a show that people have been wanting for a long time! So what do we do? We give the people what they want!

The LeBrain Train: 2000 Words or More with Mike & Friends

Episode 102 – “Snow” and Tell: Rock and Roll Collectables

Tonight on the LeBrain Train, Mike will be joined by John Snow of 2Loud2OldMusic fame once more, to compare collectables!  “Show and Tell” shows are always casual and fun, and this one will be special!  While our collections are modest compared to some, they aren’t too shabby and should be more than enough to keep you entertained on a Friday night.  We will be joined by Harrison the Mad Metal Man who has a couple cool things to show off as well.  What will we see?  Action figures, Funko Pops, tour programs, ticket stubs and lots more!  (Personally, I hope to see the world’s only Blaze Bayley bobblehead.)

As for me, I intend to tear apart my music room live tonight, to show you everything I can!  Some items, like my Spinal Tap and Beatles figures, are in storage.  There’s still plenty here to enjoy!  I have old newspaper clippings and all sorts of cool stuff to rediscover here.  Grab a beverage and settle for a fun Friday with us tonight!

Thanks for all the love! 10 Years of Record Store Tales on the LeBrain Train

A huge thank you to my co-host Harrison the Mad Metal Man, and my guests Tim Durling, Brian Richards, and Uncle Meat!  Being awash in the love and admiration of my friends is a really special thing, and I thank you for making my 10 Year Anniversary show perfect.  I was worried tonight’s show would be a little narcissistic.  Perhaps it is, but it did my soul a lot of good.  I feel energised to keep writing.

Highlights of tonight:

  • Some fascinating Tim Durling talk about rare 8-tracks and his book Unspooled.  Tim’s book features a previously unreleased EXCLUSIVE chapter of Record Store Tales, only available by buying Unspooled.  (Copies still available.)
  • Brian Richards reviewing the new KISS official bootleg CD.
  • Brian also showed off his Top Five Metal Compilations.
  • We revealed the true identity of one-time commenter “nolongeracustomer“.
  • Top Five Record Store Tales from Lana – a list I appreciated so much.
  • Top Five lists from Harrison and I – Reviews, and Meat posts.
  • The return of the Nigel Tufnel Top Ten – special lists from Harrison and Mike.

Thanks to my guests, my co-host and my friends who made this all the wonderful experience that it has been.  I appreciate you all.

The LeBrain Train: 2000 Words or More with Mike & Friends

It’s my party and I’ll throw it if I want to!  10 years is a good enough excuse, right?

Join me tonight for lists, guests and tunes.  Tim Durling, Harrison Kopp and longtime reader Brian Richards are on deck.  If you wanna join the party, drop us a line!

There will also be a big secret revealed for the first time tonight!

Friday March 11, 7:00 PM E.S.T. on YouTubeFacebook and also Facebook!

REVEALED! Top Five Ballads and the secret identity of “X” on the LeBrain Train!

An unprecedented episode with six killer lists and a mystery to boot!  Top Five Ballads.  As an added twist, tonight we added a secret guest to the panel, and the rest of the guys had to guess who this person was on their list alone!  Although I was worried they would guess the guest quite easily, that isn’t how it went down.

Who’s “X”?  Watch and find out!

Unfortunately this episode was also Chris Sarre’s least favourite show due to the big reveal, and he says he will never watch again!  Everyone else seemed to love it and I think we will try this again some time.

Thanks to everyone for hanging out tonight, it was a show I’ll remember a long time.

Top Five Ballads Remastered…with a touch of mystery! Tonight on the LeBrain Train

The LeBrain Train: 2000 Words or More with Mike & Friends

Episode 99 – Top Ballads…Remastered

On July 3 2020, we did the Nigel Tufnel Top Ten Ballads on the LeBrain Train with six sets of lists.  And it was great!  We had lists from Meat, Harrison, Holen, Darr, and Len Labelle.  Unfortunately due to Facebook Live and a bad internet connection, I find this show impossible to watch today.  Harrison and I have been trying to talk Meat into doing a “remastered” version of the show in the new Cinco De Listo format for a long time, and we finally twisted his arm.  The new panel tonight:

“X”?  That’s right.  This week’s show is not just a list show.  There will be a sixth panel member, and that member’s voice and likeness will be obscured for the whole countdown.  It will be up to the others to figure out who “X” is, and they have five songs with which to do it.

I love a mystery and I’m really looking forward to this!  Tune in tonight for six lists of awesome ballads, and a little Friday evening mystery too.  Where’s Mulder when you need him?

List Purposes: Top Five Tony Martin with Mike, Harrison and Marco

Great set of lists tonight from Harrison and Marco as we dug deep on our favourite Tony Martin albums!  With Thorns fresh on store shelves, and the prospect of Martin-era Sabbath reissues, it’s the perfect time to talk Tony.

We also played an old track from Slam Glory, featuring Marco’s uncle Ray D’Auria on lead vocals.  Great band from the Raw M.E.A.T Vol 3 CD.

The comments were terrific once again, and thank you all for watching!  See you next time!

Tony Martin gets his due: Top Five Tony, tonight on the LeBrain Train!

The LeBrain Train: 2000 Words or More with Mike and Harrison

Episode 95 – Cinco de Listo – Top Five Tony Martin Albums

Harrison has been wanting to do this show for a long time.  Let’s show Harrison some appreciation for tonight’s topic:  Top Five Tony Martin albums!  Everything is up for grabs, including Black Sabbath, the Cage, and his solo work.  In fact, just last week, Tony released his long awaited new solo album called Thorns.  I’ve had a week to absorb it.  Will it make my list?

We also have a special treat for you tonight.  Not just a bonus list, but a bonus list from Marco the Contrarian.  And not just a bonus list from Marco — but a video!  It’ll be as if Marco was here with us!  Unfortunately he could not make it due to a Contrarians taping at the same time.  You’ll be hearing more about that Contrarians episode from me in the future.

I hope you can join us tonight to discuss all things Tony Martin and Black Sabbath too.  Do you like his new album Thorns?  Tell us tonight on the LeBrain Train.

The History of the Transformers + Top Five = AstroLeBrainTrain Action!

A long show with lots of visuals tonight, and an absolute treat for fans of robots in disguise!  For those of you who joined Rob DanielsHarrison the Mad Metal Man and myself — thank you!  From the early Japanese origins, up to the present day, we took you on a guided tour of the Transformers brand.  Plenty of vintage and modern toys on display, and genuine toy ads from back in the day too.  (Facebook copyright strike — they killed the stream.  Sorry about that, but you can still watch on YouTube.)

Show format:  the first hour and 15 minutes are a history lesson.  The lists begin then!  Three lists, 15 picks, and no repeat!

This was an absolute blast.  Thanks for watching.

More Than Meets the LeBrain Train? Top Five Transformers Toys

The LeBrain Train: 2000 Words or More with Mike, Rob & Harrison

Episode 90 – Top Five Transformers Toys

Let’s roll out! I know this episode will alienate some of our regular viewers, but it’s been one that Harrison and I have talked about doing for at least a year now. And since it’s Christmas time, it feels like the perfect opportunity to talk about some of our favourite toys.

Transformers toys, specifically. We’ll talk about the history of the brand, and bring us up to the present day. Comics, cartoons & movies will be discussed. But the actual Top Five list this week will be our favourite toys. Expect some show & tell, and I’ll also be running some vintage TV ads!

On the panel:

With two different generations of fans on board, this is sure to be a show of Cybertronian proportions!

The Replacements: Top Five Singers with John and Harrison

A huge thank-you to Harrison the Mad Metal Man and 2Loud2OldMusic’s John Snow for an awesome show this week.   At John’s suggestion we tackled our favourite replacement singers.  We don’t mean guys like Hagar, Gillan and Dio…those guys already get listed enough.  We wanted to go a layer deeper.

Get a pen to take some names!  We went slightly off the beaten track and came up with 15 unique replacement singers that, in one way or another, kicked our butts!

And if that wasn’t enough, check out our amazing list of runners-up at the end.  The cool thing is that we’ve talked to several of them on the LeBrain Train and Scotch on the Rocks!

See you again next week for another bunch of lists!
