VHS Archives #93: TDM talks to George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez about Out of Sight

Out of Sight was a cool movie.  Based on a classic Elmore Leonard novel, the headliners (among a star-studded cast) were a couple young newcomers named George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez.  He was still known as a TV doctor and she was not yet “J Lo”.  MuchMusic’s Terry David Mulligan spoke to both in this brief clip from MuchMusic’s FAX program (hosted by Rebecca Rankin).  From an era when George Clooney was not yet a superstar.

This clip is unfortunately symptomatic of MuchMusic’s waning years.  Less music videos, and more mainstream programming.  But since Clooney kicks a million asses, and Out of Sight was brilliant, please enjoy this video!

VHS Archives #88: Motley Crue’s Vince Neil – Back in Vancouver again with TDM (1990)

It’s a clean, sober and healthy looking Vince Neil!  Once again, MuchMusic had Terry David Mulligan with all the hot questions.  This chat includes a surprise announcement of Motley’s next album Decade of Decadence.

TDM raises the following subjects:

  • What does Bob Rock bring to the Crue?
  • How will the Crue celebrate its 10th anniversary?
  • Thoughts on the next 10 years
  • Music of the 80s
  • “In 18 months there won’t be 20 teenagers left in America that would be caught dead listening to Motley Crue.” – Creem magazine
  • French women

Check it out!

VHS Archives #85: Steve Vai’s passion for Whitesnake, Warfare & Wanking (1990)

MuchMusic’s Terry David Mulligan was always one of their best interviewers, and here he has a nice informal chat with (then) Whitesnake’s Steve Vai!  TDM asks a loaded question about leaving Whitesnake and going solo.

Vai is always forthcoming and in this entertaining interview you’ll hear about the Passion & Warfare concept, lucid dreaming, the tuba, David Lee Roth, and of course wanking.

VHS Archives #21: Winger on MuchWest (1990)

Kip Winger and Reb Beach were on MuchWest with Dixie Dregs fan Terry David Mulligan to talk about their second album In The Heart of the Young.  It’s kind of sad, really.  Kip says that Winger are pretty close to being a headlining band, not foreseeing the turning tide of the 1990s.

Check out this interview on location in lovely Vancouver.

VHS Archives #17: ZZ Top talk to Much (1990)

ZZ Top sat with MuchMusic’s Terry David Mulligan to discuss the making of 1990’s Recycler, and their cameo in Back to the Future III.

These segments were recorded from a Much Spotlight.

VHS Archives #5: Rob Halford interview (1986)

This brief but great clip has MuchMusic’s Terry David Mulligan getting Rob Halford to open up about drugs and Judas Priest’s image.  TDM hosted a show called MuchWest, but this was aired on the Power Hour.  Summer 1986, (presumably from Expo ’86) and Rob’s got a moustache and slick, long hair!  Definitely a look that didn’t stick.
