A show of hands: who loves the Motörhead song “Eat the Rich”? Granted, it is not one of their most recognised tunes. It is however fun and hilarious.
I wanted to post the lyrics on Facebook recently, so I Googled them. I think Google is a little mixed up.
Google confused Motorhead’s song with the completely different Aerosmith single. At least they got the words mostly right…mostly! Below, you’ll find the correct lyrics and credits, thanks to your buddy LeBrain.
They say music is the food of love,
Let’s see if you’re hungry enough,
Take a bite, take another, just like a good boy would.
Get a sweet thing on the side,
Home cooking, homicide,
Side order, could be your daughter,
Finger licking good.
Come on baby, eat the rich,
Put the bite on the son of a bitch,
Don’t mess up, don’t you give me no switch,
C’mon baby and eat the rich.
C’mon baby and eat the rich.
Sittin’ down in a restaurant,
Tell the waiter just what you want,
Is that the meat, you wanted to eat,
How would you ever know?
Hash browns and bacon strips,
I love the way that you lick your lips,
No fooling I can see you drooling,
Feel the hunger grow.
Come on baby, eat the rich,
Put the bite on the son of a bitch,
Don’t mess up, don’t you give me no switch,
C’mon baby and eat the rich.
C’mon baby and eat the rich.
C’mon honey, here’s your supper,
C’mon baby, bite that sucker!
I’ll eat you baby you eat me,
Eat two, maybe get one free,
Shetland pony extra pepperoni,
Just pick up the phone.
Eat Greek, or eat Chinese,
Eat salad, or scarf up grease,
You’re on the shelf, you eat yourself,
Come on and bite my bone.
Come on baby, eat the rich,
Bite down on the son of a bitch,
Don’t mess around, don’t you give me no switch,
C’mon baby and eat the rich.
C’mon baby and eat the rich.
Sittin’ here in a hired tuxedo,
You wanna see my bacon torpedo?
Eat it baby, eat the rich.
Eat it baby, eat the rich.
Eat it baby, eat the rich.
Songwriters: Kilmister, Burston, Campbell, Taylor.

Bacon torpedo is one of the greatest phrases in rock.

Agreed! And it was missing from the Google lyrics. It’s up there with “Pink torpedo” with Spinal Tap the year before.
I also really laugh at “Come on and bite my bone”.

Too bad they didn’t mix it up with the Krokus version. I like that one too.

Still remember Pepsi Power Hour playing the video to this track. It made me laugh but I couldn’t find myself at the time wanting to buy any current Motorhead. When I mean current I mean 1987!
Hard to follow up No Sleep Til Hammersmith…..

They were clearly on a slide by 1987, but Much sure kissed their asses and played them weekly no matter what. JD Roberts was a fan or so he claimed.

On the slide? Ohhhh now sure I agree with that

It’s debatable. Personally I love the 80s stuff. I don’t think they were selling as many albums though.

It’s true ‘their appeal became more selective’ but I’ll take any period of Motörhead over almost anything else

Anything louder than everything else.
Kudos on the Tap quote. If only I could quote more Tap in my daily life.

I’m glad it wasn’t wasted. It’s a thin line between clever and stupid

We love this song so much my buddy Frank and I watch the British movie it is from! Well, the movie also has a bunch of people from The Young Ones involved which we loved as well.

Yes Rik Mayal I believe?

Yep. He had the biggest part. Two others had cameos from what I remember. It has been a long time.

Eat the Rich is my favourite Aerosmith tune – hadn’t realized Lemmy & co. had written one too, even if they aren’t always given credit for writing it!
