Tim Durling reveals pre-Christmas treasures with Mike and the Mad Metal Man

GRAB A STACK OF ROCK…with Mike and the Mad Metal Man
Episode 8:  Tim Durling returns!

East coast radio legend Tim Durling returns tonight to reveal 11 new arrivals!  Mystery goodies!  We have no idea what he has in store for us.  8 track tapes?  Could very well be.  I guess you’ll just have to tune in tonight to see for yourself.

Just in time for the show is a vinyl copy of Poets and Madmen by Savatage – glow in the dark!  I’ll also be unboxing the rest of the box sets we didn’t get to last week, or as many as time permits.  Permanent Waves by Rush is on deck, as is Master of Puppets by Metallica, Fugazi by Marillion, and Restless Heart by Whitesnake.  You will have a say in what gets unboxed tonight.

Harrison the Mad Metal Man will be there to answer questions!  For “Ask Harrison” tonight, we have Christmas greetings and questions from California Girl.  There may even be an “Ask Mike”!  Meanwhile Jeff Taylor has a question about Australia.

A Miracle of a Show! Aaron KMA and Harrison the Mad Metal Man Grabbed Stacks of Rock!

That was a blast (as always!)  By popular demands, Aaron returned!  True to form, the man known as “Mr Books” presented…books!  Leonard Cohen, Charlie Watts, a certain black guitar wielded by David Gilmore, and more!  As for Harrison, he too had some books to show, as well as some interesting discs by Concrete Blonde and a smashingly cool lightsaber!

I unboxed the new Queen Miracle box set, a Black Sabbath Sabotage, and a Def Leppard From London to Vegas.  We took a look at the contents of each.  The Queen box set is suitably majestic, featuring a lovely hardcover book and loads upon loads of music to listen to.

“Ask Harrison” returned tonight, with questions from Lana (via Tee Bone) and California Girl, and a bit of a curveball “Ask Mike” as well.  Warning:  there could be more “Ask Mike” coming in the future!

Thanks for tuning in and we’ll see you next week.

Episode 7:  Special guest Aaron KMA

Aarons back!  Due to popular demand, the big guy has agreed to return for another hour of rock.  Tonight, I plan on unboxing my Queen The Miracle box set, and others with time permitting.  I have two sealed Rush box sets (Hemispheres and Permanent Waves) and a sealed Metallica (Master of Puppets) that could be opened tonight.  It’s up to you — whatever you want!

Harrison the Mad Metal Man and Aaron always have something interesting to show and tonight will be no exception.  So let’s wait and see!

We also have the popular “Ask Harrison” returning tonight, with Lana (via Tee Bone) and MarriedandHeels offering up a pair of questions and a curveball.  Hopefully we will learn a little about the elusive Australian madman and his homeland tonight.

50 Years of Heavy Metal Music, disc by disc, with Mike, Harrison and John T. Snow

We went a bit overtime this week, but for good reason.  It takes that long to have a serious discussion about Judas Priest‘s box set 50 Heavy Metal Years of MusicHarrison and I both dissected our copies while John T. Snow went through his Complete Albums Collection set, which was anything but!  We also took a look at the Rob Halford action figure by Super 7, and gave our favourite tracks from each studio album.  When we got to the bonus live albums at the end, the Australian Wunderkind told us what’s what.

We also discussed all the flaws with the box set, and what has been done to remedy some of them.

As far as “Ask Harrison” goes, California Girl wanted to know about Fleetwood Mac, and gave Christine McVie’s “Songbird” some praise.  Meanwhile Tee Bone had something he’s always been meaning to ask Harrison about Australia!

Thanks for tuning in and we’ll see you next Friday night!

Friday Night and the Priest is Back! Grab a Stack of Box Sets with Mike, the Mad Metal Man, and 2loud2oldmusic!

GRAB A STACK OF ROCK…with Mike and the Mad Metal Man
Episode 6: Special guest John T. Snow

Harrison the Mad Metal Man recently acquired Judas Priest‘s box set 50 Heavy Metal Years of Music.  It so happens that Mike also owns 50 Heavy Metal Years of Music.  Since John Snow has his own Judas Priest box set, we thought we’d show off our Priest tonight.  For the first time ever, Harrison and I will break down the full box set item by item.  Additionally we will give you our favourite and least favourite song from each album.  I will also run through every flaw with the discs (and there are a few).

Joining us tonight for “Ask Harrison” will be California Girl and Tee Bone, with some fresh queries for the Australian Madman.  Since he won’t tell us what shampoo he uses to get his hair silky smooth, California Girl is trying a different topic.  Meanwhile Tee Bone has something for Harrison that he always wanted to know!

Tune in tonight LIVE for all the fun.

Grant’s Rock Warehaus – THE DARKNESS – With Mike Ladano and Tim Durling

What a fun night!  Grant Arthur and I went through our favourite Darkness tracks, album by album and single by single.  Then Tim Durling showed up and the rocking really began.  An absolutely fun night, educational, and a total love affair for Dan, Justin, Frankie, Rufus, Richie, Eddie and Emily.  We also delved into Hot Leg, the Stone Gods, and British Whale.  Get rocked!

Dancing on a Friday Night? Grant’s Rock Warehaus – THE DARKNESS – Tonight at 7:00 PM EST

Spend an hour with Grant and I LIVE tonight, as we discuss our favourite DARKNESS tracks!

Hey you, do you remember me?
I used to sit next to you at school
And we indulged in all the extracurricular activities
We weren’t particularly cool

Oh, Monday, cycling
Tuesday, gymnastics
Dancing on a Friday night
I got Bridge Club on Wednesday
Archery on Thursday
Dancing on a Friday night

Hey you, could you ever fall for me
Oh, the way I fell for you?
And do you dwell upon the thoughts that I occupy
Or do you give yourself things to do?

Oh, Monday, rowing
Tuesday, badminton
Dancing on a Friday night
I got ping pong on Wednesday
Needlework on Thursday
Dancing on a Friday night
With you, you, rowr
Ow!

Monday, Tuesday
Wednesday, Thursday
Dancing on a Friday night
Let the music smother me
Whole weekend recovery
Dancing on a Friday night

Oh, see the lady I adore
Dancing on the dancing floor
Dancing on a Friday night
God, the way she moves, moves me
To write bad poetry
Dancing on a Friday night, ooh

Marco D’Auria and Tim Durling are Creatures of the Night! Box set dissected, bootleg DVDs examined, and Harrison questioned!

Marco, Tim and I had a blast taking a deep dive into Kiss’ Creatures of the Night album, box set, and tour!  Marco presented a collection of four Kiss bootlegs from the Creatures era.  Tim brought the vinyl and cassettes.  He even had a related 8-track tape.  I dove deep into the Kiss box set:  the book, the goodies, the music, the stories and the packaging!  (For those asking me for a box set review, this is pretty much it!)  Additionally, Uncle Meat stopped by with his memories of seeing the Creatures tour at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto.  Finally, “Ask Harrison” returned with two of the best questions for my Aussie co-host yet.  Harrison doesn’t have much in the way of Kiss but did present some interesting stuff in terms of Slade, Deep Purple, Def Leppard, and more.

“Ask Harrison” questions this time were asked by Lana (via Tee Bone) and our newest castmember, an actual Instagram influencer with 200,000 followers who discovered our Led Zeppelin list episode earlier this year, became a fan, and wanted to be a part of our little show herself! Please give her a big welcome.

Next week I’ll be doing a taping with Grant Arthur from Grant’s Rock Warehaus, but we’ll be back again soon.  Thanks for watching!

Week five of Grab a Stack of Rock, and the Kiss Creatures of the Night box set has finally arrived!  And it’s awesome – the best Kiss box set to date.  We’ll tell you why tonight.  Additionally, Marco D’Auria and Tim Durling from the Contrarians will be on hand to show off some of their own Kiss goodies.  D’ya think Tim will have 8-track tapes?  What are the odds?

The popular “Ask Harrison” feature also returns, with two of the best questions yet.  Let’s hope our boy from Australia is ready!

“Fuck Sammy [Hagar]!” says Dave Lizmi on Grab A Stack of Rock with Mike, Harrison and Robert Daniels! This is our clickbait headline!

Robert “Visions In Sound” Daniels not only grabbed a stack of rock, but also a rack of socks!  Rob rocked us all tonight, with some cool soundtracks that are rare and desirable to collectors!  Harrison “Mad Metal Man” Kopp also stepped up to the plate with some 3 CD sets and assorted items.  Because Rob was on, I decided to go with a Star Wars theme with CDs, VHS, and stickers.  But we got much than we bargained for.  Other features:

  • A controversial “Ask Harrison” featuring Tee Bone Erickson
  • A “Fuck Sammy Hagar” from Dave Lizmi of the Four Horsemen
  • Some bizarre video tape formats from Rob’s TV days

Next week, Uncle Meat and Marco the Contrarian will be grabbing stacks of rock with us!  Don’t miss it!
