Rob Daniels

Van Halen, books, rarities, soundtracks and new things! Mike, Harrison, John, Rob, & Tim present Stacks of Rock!

Three years ago, we lost Edward Van Halen, and we are still mourning him today.

Fortunately, on this same day comes the new Van Halen – Hagar years remastered box set.  John T. Snow has a copy and showed it on the show.  I also brought out all my Van Halen CD rarities.  My cassettes and vinyl were seen on prior shows of Grab A Stack of Rock and LeBrain Train respectively.

John also presented a recent singles box set by Ace Frehley, A Candlebox box (ha-ha),  some Rock Candy Night Ranger reissues, and the new Darkness Permission to Land set!

Harrison the Mad Metal Man showed us a Maiden / Blaze Bayley bootleg CD, some books, some Deep Purple, and…José Feliciano!?  Breaking new ground on Grab A Stack of Rock!

Rob (Visions in Sound) had some interesting soundtracks from theme parks, and an obscure Humphrey Bogart film.  He also had a stunning 2 CD reissue of John Williams’ Superman score.

The mighty Tim Durling (Unspooled: An Adventure in 8 Tracks) had some picture sleeve 7″ singles that were quite lovely.  He also had some books to show, and some Ritchie Blackmore-related CDs that he says are for an upcoming project he’s working on.  Hmmm…

A super fun show.  Be sure to tune in next week when we do our Top 5 Songs About Monsters!  See ya!

CDs, vinyl, cassettes, 8-tracks and more! “Snow & Tell” with John Snow, Rob Daniels and Tim Durling

Episode 37:  Snow & Tell with Mike, Harrison, Rob, John & Tim!

A full house tonight for some show & tell…or “Snow & Tell” as we like to call it when John T. Snow is in the house!  We also have Tim Durling (Unspooled: An Adventure in 8 Tracks) and Robert Daniels (Visions in Sound) joining us for what should be a fun hour.  What will we see?

  • New arrivals?  Check
  • Physical music?  Check
  • Head shaving stunts?  No!

As usual we will have an Ask Harrison question, lots of stories, and lots of laughs.  Join us live so you can take part.

It’s Friday Night, and Grab A Stack of Rock is Back with Harrison, Kevin, and Rob Daniels!

Episode 18:  New Arrivals (and some books)

It’s finally that time.  First cottage show of the year!  We have been looking forward to this since November.

This week, we plan on looking at some new musical arrivals with Harrison, Rob Daniels and Kevin “Canadian Grooves” Simister.  I’ll have some books to go over, and of course, we have “Ask Harrison” with a question from the California Girl.

Notes:  This being the first cottage show of the season, please allow for —

  • Wifi/power issues
  • Weather/potential indoor show
  • Murphy’s Law

But the show must go on, and we hope it will!  Please allow for any difficulties that a cottage show in April may cause, especially the first one.  Who knows if the internet will work in the weather we are expecting.  If all goes well, see you then!

Surprise guest @MarriedandHeels rocks your Friday with Mike, John, Rob and Jex (Grab A Stack of Rock #16.5)

Last night was a bounty of success, except for poor Mr. Jex, who suffered from wi-fi issues all night.  Thank you to Jexciter for showing up and playing along!  Rob Daniels, John T. Snow, and special surprise guest @MarriedAndHeels all joined in last night for a casual chat!

We successfully streamed to Rob’s Facebook, and the 2loud2oldmusic & Jex’s Vinyl World pages!  This will help us reach more viewers in the future.

Unfortunately, Tim Durling could not join us, which is a real shame since he was responsible for two of the albums I unboxed, both Japanese imports.

John had some rare Whitesnake and Bon Jovi to show us, Rob had a book and a Helix-related soundtrack, and Jex some Judas Priest and monster movies.

The California Girl known as @MarriedAndHeels showed us her new Nike’s that took her on a 12.5 mile run earlier this week!

We had a lively discussion about Richie Sambora/Bon Jovi, Kiss’ Farewell Tour, Star Wars and a myriad of topics!

Thanks for watching, and if you haven’t, then please give it a watch below!

Rocking Reissues on Grab A Stack with Mike, Tim, Rob and the Mad Metal Man

Rock Candy, Rhino, Sony Legacy, La-La-Land, Wounded Bird, BGO…all respected reissue labels that collectors seek and value.  We looked at a decent cross section from these labels and more on this episode of Grab A Stack of Rock.

Harrison the Mad Metal Man educated us on Oingo Boingo.  Rob Daniels highlighted a Loreena McKennit super deluxe that sounds out of this world.  Mr. Durling presented a variety of rock reissues including our only vinyl of the evening.  I had some cool Johnny Cash on Sony Legacy, and a bunch of Budgie.  This is just a slice of what we showed.

Apologies for the audio glitches at the start!  We got it figured out and rolled on.

“Ask Harrison” came from a new contributor tonight:  Superhero Tee Bone Man himself!  California Girl asked some questions about Heart and Pat Benatar, sparking a lively discussion.

Thanks for watching, and if you missed it, you can check it out below!

Episode 13:  Reissue Record Labels with Tim Durling and Rob Daniels

The original crew of the USS Stackterprise is reunited this week!  Ensign Tim Durling, the aficionado of every edition of everything, wanted to discuss record labels that specialize in reissues.  Labels like Rock Candy, Sony Legacy, Noteworthy Productions, and many more.  Lt. Rob Daniels will be on hand to show off some La-La-Land reissue soundtracks.  Commander Kopp and I will also be prepared with some tasty discs of rock. With Durling and Daniels, two radio legends in their own rights, I’ll be able to just kick back, listen and learn.

Additionally:  Ask Harrison is back with a new question, and MarriedandHeels has another question for the group.

Your Karate is a Joke! Grab A Stack of Karate Kid with Rob, Mike, Harrison and special guest Dr. Kathryn!

Some of the most fun shows are the unexpected ones.  I had no idea how much fun it would be to talk Karate Kid and Cobra Kai for an hour.  But when you have Rob Daniels and Dr. Kathryn along for the ride, you’re bound to learn something.  I have a feeling that this show will be some of the best Karate Kid content on YouTube.  We covered it all, and Dr. Kathryn taught us just about everything we needed to know about this long-lived and well-loved franchise.

We saw books, autographs, CDs, action figures and a personal message from actor Sean Kanan.  We also saw a lot of Cobra Kai branded clothing!  But even better than the things we looked at were the stories that we heard.  Whether personal stories, or tales of the making of the movies, the talk was top notch tonight.

Meanwhile, Harrison schooled us on Ninja Turtles, another popular martial arts franchise.  Rob also showed us some cool Bruce Lee soundtracks.

For “Ask Harrison”, we had a surprise question from “Blaze Bayley” himself!  We also had a group question from MarriedandHeels about that most hated of bands:  Nickelback!  Discussion ensued.

This turned out to be the second most popular show we’ve done to date!  Thanks for watching everyone!

Wax On, Wax Off! Grab A Stack of Karate Kid with Rob, Mike, Harrison and special guest Dr. Kathryn!

Episode 12:  Karate Kid/Cobra Kai with Dr. Kathryn and Rob Daniels

Every once in a while, we have to do a show that I know nothing about.  Why?  Because I love hanging out with guests like Dr. Kathryn and Rob Daniels.  If Dr. Kathryn says “I wanna show off all my cool autographed Karate Kid stuff,” then I have no choice but to oblige.

This week, Dr. Kathryn and Rob Daniels will be talking Karate Kid and Cobra Kai.  We will see action figures, autographs, and a personal message from Cobra Kai actor Sean Kanan.

Meanwhile Harrison has some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for that martial arts action, and I will show off my Reaction Figure collection, since they also make Karate Kid toys.  Join us!

Ensign Durling, Captain Kevin, Lt. Cmdr Daniels and Mr. Kopp beam up their Trek collectibles

This time, the Red Shirt didn’t die!  Spoiler alert:  Ensign Durling survived all 1 hour 50 minutes of this show.  It was a marathon but for good reason.  Star Trek is a big part of our lives, and features some pretty incredible music.  Mr. Durling and Lt. Commander Rob Daniels brought a variety of classic soundtracks on vinyl, CD, and cassette.  He also had an original DS9 shooting script!  Interesting items here.  Meanwhile, Captain Kevin brought some books, DVDs and a Hallmark communicator.  Commander Kopp had a cool MAD Magazine compilation of Trek sketches from the classic comedy book.  Most of my hardcore Trek stuff is packaged away in storage, but I had some cool comics, DVDs, and handmade items that are very special to me.

Bonus:  Tim and I dressed in uniform.

Also:  Find out which DVD to watch if you wish to hear Shatner or Nimoy (we don’t know specifically whom) let out a fart.

We had an “Ask Harrison” from the Canadian Snow Turtle, and Tee Bone answered a question from MarriedandHeels regarding the Northern Lights.  Tee Bone’s eloquent answer could even bring a tear to your eye.  You don’t want to miss that.

See you next week for the Karate Kid and Cobra Kai with Dr. Kathryn and Rob Daniels!
