the incredible hulk

Sunday Chuckle: The Stulk

My favourite single comic book growing up was Marvel Star Wars issue #47:Β  “Droid World”.Β  I have three copies today including the one I originally had back in 1981.Β  The post-Empire period is the one I remember most fondly, even though Han Solo was absent from the story, frozen in Jabba’s dungeon.Β  I took this issue everywhere with me.Β  It is tattered but still barely holding together.Β  At the lake or at home, I kept it near.Β  I tried to draw the robots inside, with the comic pages splashed open on the driveway.Β  Best friend friend Bob was with me with pen in hand.

I recently opened it again and came across a page that had to be Bob’s handiwork.Β  He was the destructive one, not me.Β  In ink he scrawled a word bubble on an ad page featuring the Hulk and a dollar bill with the face of Stan Lee.Β  Stan Lee + Hulk = Stulk?

Whatever the reason for this comic book graffiti, at least I have my two backup copies of “Droid World”.Β  I can’t remember him doing this but it had to be Bob!

Motherlode of Christmas Rock!

I have 31 discs of music to listen to now. Β And a whole lotta other goodies. Β Here we go!

First up – books. Β Peter Criss’ Makeup To Breakup, and the latest from Ripley’s Believe It or Not and Guiness’ Book of World Records. Β  I’ve leafed through Peter’s book — all he seems to do is bitch about Paul and Gene. Β Review will come.

Next, Queen. Β A total of 8 discs of awesome remastered Queen to listen to: Β The Miracle, Jazz, A Night at the Opera, and Live Killers!

Next up, Rush. Β 6 discs in each of these two Sector box sets, including 2 DVD’s in 5.1 surround, plus 2 discs of 2112. Β Awesome. Β (I already have Sector 2 and have a review of that coming in the next few days.)

And the rest: Β The 4 disc Cult Love Omnibus Edition. Β Thin Lizzy’s Life Live (2 discs), Jon Lord’s Concerto for Group and Orchestra, and the new Rage Against The Machine XX edition (2 discs plus a DVD).

But that’s not all. Β Check out this Kiss lunchbox, these movies and vintage G1 Transformers 1988 “Bugly” action figure.

Lastly my folks got me this neat Joby camera tripod. Β This is going to come in handy when I make my next Transformers stop motion animated movie. Β I did a brief 15 second screen test — check that out too!

Hope your Christmas was filled with happiness, love, joy, and rock!
