Steph Honde is a multi-talented singer and guitarist from France, and this week Deke and I are privileged to welcome him on board the LeBrain Train: 2000 Words or More with Mike Ladano!
Steph has played with artists such as Paul Di’Anno, Vinny Appice, Danko Jones, Greg Godovitz, Jim Crean, Don Airey and many more. With his bands Hollywood Monsters and NoN (Now or Never), plus his many collaborations with Crean, Steph Honde boasts a pretty damn cool discography. He has an album under his own name with the covers CD Covering the Monsters, and just released an acoustic album called Empire of Ashes! Perhaps just as cool, Honde is an avid music collector with a CD library to die for! (Legend has it that his Zappa collection alone can move mountains.) We have a lot to geek out about!

We were supposed to talk about the upcoming big releases in music last week — and then King Edward died. Devastating. We needed to talk about Eddie. But now, we’ll talk some AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Sloan and more! The angle is based on something Deke said (and others have echoed) a few weeks ago: something along the lines of “2020 needs new AC/DC”. And it does. We deserve it.
This week’s panel will include John from 2loud2oldmusic, the expert on all things New Release-wise. He will be joined by AC/DC scholar Kevin / Buried On Mars, who will bring the perspective of the diehard, deep cut kind of fan. I’ll probably just stand by and drink coffee!

Shitty week, huh? That’s why I’m here — to help you deal with the bad stuff, and leave feeling better at the end. This week we are here to grieve, to mourn, and also to pay tribute to the greatest guitar player who ever lived: Edward Van Halen.
We’re forgoing the list format, and just talking about what Eddie and his music meant to us personally. Expect the usual suspects on the panel, and please post your comments so we can see what you have to say about King Edward. Together we’ll process this horrible loss, and by the end we’ll feel a little better. Van Halen meant a lot to me. They were one of the first bands I ever liked. We’ll talk about that and lots more.

It was a drizzly drive home, with an accident right in the “Sweet Spot” of Highway 401 heading into Kitchener. Perfect for another Max the Axe video. The track is called “Hard Drive” (see what I did there?) and it’s from his 1995 debut cassette Bodies of Water. It’s a killer epic featuring flute, saxophone, and the works.
In this video you’ll notice I’m a patient driver; I don’t change lanes to go faster. I get in the lane I’m supposed to be in and I stay there. I only change lanes a couple times in the whole video.
Pay attention and you’ll see the anti-abortion protesters across from Freeport hospital. You’ll also notice landmarks such as Tim Horton’s (see how many you can spot) and the striking Grand River bridge. Mostly you’ll be annoyed at the tail lights and other drivers. Get a coffee. (This video has been sped up 2.5 times to match the length of the song.) Enjoy the drive!
Episode 30 – Adventures in Epilepsy
A few technical difficulties with the Facebook feed, but a good show all around. A more personal show this time, if you ever wanted to know how epilepsy can change lives, then you’ll want to check this one out. No more concerts, no more movie theaters — such is the new reality that my wife lives in.
But we did more than just talk about epilepsy, much more in fact. Unboxings, books, and guests — it’s all below.
The live stream feed is much choppier on Facebook so I encourage everyone to watch on Youtube from now on. The Youtube feed was solid. People on Facebook were reporting freezing video, so in an effort to fix that, I stopped the feed and started over. That’s why there are two Youtube videos below.

Episode 30
Ever wondered what it’s like living with epilepsy? Well, I can’t answer that for you. What I can tell you is what life is like when you care for somebody who suffers from seizures.
Apologies to the regular viewers as this week’s show is light on music (though music always factors in). Think about how much you love music, and then imagine if you had a medical condition that meant you could never go see another concert again.
This promises to be another intense show, similar to the Nostalgia Stream from back in July. If you liked that episode, don’t miss this one.

By 1993, Ratt had broken up and Cinderella split with their drummer. Singer Stephen Pearcy and drummer Fred Coury then joined forces in a new hard rock band called Arcade. Promoting their debut album, Arcade played RPM in Toronto on July 17 1993 — their only Canadian date. They stopped by MuchMusic’s Start Me Up program (one of the only shows still playing rock music) for a quick chat with Michael Williams, who was introducing them on stage later that night.
With former bands never mentioned by name, Arcade discuss their current lineup and the Toronto Grand Prix. Was Pearcy wasted?
