The LeBrain Train – 2000 Words or More with Mike Ladano Episode 29
Another week, another list show, and this one comes courtesy of the founder of the Nigel Tufnel Top Ten list, Uncle Meat himself. Music Movies — with one caveat. No documentaries. Those would make a fine list on their own.
Over the course of five lists, you will definitely find some tracks to check out for the first time, or just for a fresh listen. The discussion was brisk and entertaining as hell. You might even see cameos from Boba Fett and Thunder Bay’s own T-Bone Erickson. What songs did we pick? Was Aaron disqualified? You’ll have to watch to find out.
In addition to the AC/DC lists, we tackled a few other topics. Check the video times below to skip to the following:
An Amazon parcel & special Sven Gali swag unboxing – 0:09:30
Some praise for Max the Axe and Eric Litwiller – 0:26:00
The AC/DC lists – 0:30:50
For the after-party, general music and current events discussion – 1:55:25
This week’s episode comes to you from BURIED ON MARS! I’ve been wanting to involve him on the live show for a few months and now the time has come. His topic: AC/DC deep cuts. Back in June we did a Nigel Tufnel Top Ten AC/DC albums co-hosted by Superdekes. That was one of our best shows, but now we go deep! No hits, just AC/DC; songs that we love that you’re not going to hear on the radio.
You may have noticed I have finally picked a name for this show. I hope I picked the right one. Tonight will be the inaugural (even though I’ve been doing this six months) episode of THE LeBRAIN TRAIN: 2000 Words or More with Mike Ladano.
Thank you to old pal (26 years) and author Aaron Lebold for contributing new graphics for the show. I really appreciate it! This was my favourite of the two he made. I have more artwork coming along. I’m very grateful for your help Aaron! Maybe you can come on the show and discuss your new book Genocide.
So that’s the name…The LeBrain Train: 2000 Words or More with Mike Ladano. Or, just The LeBrain Train. Jen came up with the LeBrain Train, and rock journalist Mitch Lafon suggested the 2000 Words or More part. Thanks to everyone who dropped a suggestion! I liked them all except for James Kalyn’s — “The Lebrain Eats A Worm And A Stick YouTube Hour”!
Thanks to Rob Daniels for not one but two awesome lists, and terrific co-hosting duties! The knowledge of this man is unsurpassed. Down to microscopic detail, Rob is able to discuss virtually any soundtrack on a dime. This show was long overdue! It was the Nigel Tufnel Top Ten Soundtracks with lists from:
My hope is that this show will give you some new music to check out, I know I’ll be adding some discs to my wishlist. You’ll have to watch and see!
An extra-special thanks to Dr. Kathryn for her first video appearance and an awesome list! Apologies for the technical issues, such is the nature of live streaming. It only gets harder when I’m on location. The LeBrain Facebook page lost its feed close to the end, but if you missed anything it’s all on Youtube below.
Also thanks to Holen, Erik, Frank, Meat, Chris, Candace and everyone else for your great comments!
This long-delayed instalment of LeBrain & Friends (temporary title) is brought to you by the power of soundtracks!
Due to scheduling, this episode has been pushed back a couple times. If I’m doing soundtracks, I have to have ‘Mister Soundtracks’ on the show himself. That would be Rob Daniels from Visions In Sound. There are very few people who know more about film, TV and video game soundtracks than Rob, so prepare to be educated!
The weather looks good but can sometimes mess with the internet. If I am unable to go live tonight then I will reschedule the show.
Tonight Rob and I will run down the Nigel Tufnel Top Ten Soundtracks! Everything is fair game. In fact my understanding is that Rob will be bringing us two lists: scores, and standard soundtrack discs! Participants include:
Thanks to Greg Fraser, Patrick Gagliardi, and surprise guest Brian Hamilton of Storm Force for joining me on a Friday night! It was a free-form chat tackling subjects such as:
The album Age of Fear
Memorable impact gigs
Canadian Rock
New music
Secrets to singing
Thunder Bay
Touring and touring and touring
Brighton Rock and Gerry McGhee
And much much more!
In addition I did a CD reveal for this week’s mail. New music from Amazon! Check it out if you want to know what I’ll be spinning this weekend.
For the CD reveals, start at 0:04:15 of the stream.
For Storm Force, skip to 0:16:50of the stream.
Thanks again to Greg, Pat, and Brian for setting this chat up. It was the first but won’t be the last.
In contrast to last week’s 3+ hour show, a shorter one for you tonight. Short but cool, if “a little light on the Scott Peddle content” according to my Yelp reviews. The subject of friendship and the music that connects us was the topic for this hour. But then, as if summoned by the Live Stream gods…came a surprise.
** SPOILERS **
The very first official live stream FROM SAUSAGEFEST. Say hello to Seb, Dr. Dave, the Meat Man, Bucky, Tyler and the rest of the gang! To skip to this part of the stream go to 1:04:50 below.
Rob Daniels also joined at the end. Enjoy the show!
If all goes according to plan, I will be going live tonight at 6:30 PM E.S.T as a solo artist once again!
Unfortunately the weather is looking like storms all weekend, which can mess with the internet. If I am unable to go live tonight then I will reschedule the show.
This show’s theme is another one suggested by Superdekes: Friendship! Good friends, and all the great tunes that connect them. Music, and pals! The reason for this week’s topic is simple.
Today begins the 19th annual Sausagefest. I’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to stay isolated this year. While I am 100% confident that none of my friends will get sick, I am practising a stricter social distancing policy. 2020 is a seriously screwed up year, and this year I’m valuing family more than ever. If I want to spend time under the same roof as my parents at the cottage, and have them be comfortable with that, then I need to respect them by adhering to the same distancing as they are. If I want to be enjoying my “happy place” with them, then I need to respect that.
Because I cannot be with my friends today, I’ll be talking about them. My “Nostalgia Stream“, about my childhood best friend Bob, was one of the most popular shows I’ve done. He had a huge impact on me musically, but so did others. This time we’ll be talking about some of the other colourful characters in my crazy life, all centred around the love of rock and roll.
As before, when I’m done yammering on I’ll open it up for others to join in!
I have been told by someone younger and more knowledgeable about such things that shows like mine need a name. Apparently that’ll help with exposure. The following names have all been suggested. Please leave a comment with your favourite or a suggestion of your own.

Recently I had the absolute pleasure of being interviewed by Mr. Sebastien Munier for his brand new Geek VLOG series. (Long time followers may remember Seb from my short-lived Tyler & LeBrain series of podcasts.) His excellent new YouTube show features 10 questions for geeky friends. Thank you Seb for having me on, it was an honour and I hope everyone subscribes to your new show. I know I will continue watching.
