#1057: “To Each Their Own!” – The P*ss Blanket Story

RECORD STORE TALES #1057: “To Each Their Own!” – The Piss Blanket Story

Guilty as charged.  I was filming a dumpster diver.

I was leaving for work Friday morning when I saw this guy picking through the bottles in recycling, as they often do.  He was soon joined by a second guy, and they tore through the recycling looking for anything of value.  When the second guy jumped into the dumpster, I couldn’t resist.  The bad part of me wanted a video, so I shot a little bit of video and then pocketed my phone again.

I watched as the guy found a box with a deep fryer in it, but then my jaw dropped as I saw him liberate a large, white blanket….

[continued in video]

As I drove off, I saw the two guys riding the bikes, with the one fellow clutching the piss blanket holding his precious deep fryer.

Weird Friday.

VHS Archives #137: Extreme on MuchMusic – September 1990 – Much Spotlight

Extreme were about to get really big for a little while with Extreme II: Pornograffiti.  Guitar wunderkind Nuno Bettencourt, singer Gary Cherone, bassist Pat Badger, and drummer Paul Geary sat down with MuchMusic in 1990 to discuss their name (only a jokey answer here), influences, and music videos vs the live show. Very prophetic and timely here….

Youtubin’: Nate Navarro’s Sub Octave Bass

Now that you’re all down from your 420 high, it’s time to take it down low!

Nate Navarro’s new bass has an extra-long string length, enabling him to go lower than ever.  Check it out!  This is a 42″ scale Sub Octave Bass Guitar from Lignum!

VIDEO: Opening Weekend at the Cottage – April 15 2023

Jen and I made the trip up to the cottage with my dad on Saturday April 15 – opening weekend.  A full two weeks earlier than 2022.  I finally feel alive again!  I’m back, baby!  I’m back.

Music on the trip up:

Music on the trip back:

There was only one hiccup on the way home.  I almost got a speeding ticket.  The only reason I didn’t was the officer had to respond to an emergency immediately.  Whew.  That was close.

The lake levels are down this year and the water smelled terrible.  We can hope that this changes in the summer, but there are no guarantees.  The water may remain shallow and stinky.  If so, we will have to go elsewhere to swim this summer!

Please enjoy this brief video of nature, beauty, and one weird-ass castle.

VHS Archives #136: Killer Dwarfs’ Darrell Dwarf Millar backstage at Operation Rock and Roll (1991)

August 19, 1991.  Judas Priest’s final show with Rob Halford for over a decade.  Michael Williams caught Darrell Dwarf Millar of the Killer Dwarfs checking out Alice Cooper, Priest, Motorhead and more at Operation Rock and Roll!  Darrell discusses working with the very busy Andy Johns for the next Dwarfs record, Method to the Madness, which was set to begin in L.A. in September of that year.

Neurotic Outsiders on Grant’s Rock Warehaus TONIGHT!

Tonight I will be LIVE on Grant’s Rock Warehaus to discuss a forgotten 90s supergroup: the Neurotic Outsiders!

The 90s were a weird time.  For all intents and purposes, one of the biggest bands in the world was gone:  Guns N’ Roses.  We had to settle for solo albums from Duff, Slash, Gilby and Izzy.

Matt Sorum and Duff McKagan teamed up with Steve Jones from the Sex Pistols, and John Taylor from Duran Duran, to form the punky supergroup Neurotic Outsiders.  They made one album.  One and done!  But what an album it was.  We’ll be discussing all this and more tonight on Grant’s Rock Warehaus!

Youtubin’: Loudness – “House of 1000 Pleasures” Live

From 1994’s live album Once And For All, it’s Loudness with the EZO cover “House of 1000 Pleasures”.  Masaki Yamada (ex-EZO) was the singer, and this live album kicked absolute ass. That riff really grooves.

Hope you enjoy.

EXCLUSIVE! @MarriedandHeels is now @MarriedandCrocs! [Instagram/OnlyFans] VIDEOS & PHOTO GALLERY

BREAKING NEWS!  April 1 2023

To the shock and dismay of her 200,000 fans, Grab A Stack of Rock co-host @MarriedandHeels has made the announcement that she is done with high heel shoes, and is now endorsing Crocs and only Crocs!  This will come with a name change, to @MarriedandCrocs.

“It’s true,” she announced while sipping on her watermelon peach tea, with local honey.  “To be honest, high heel shoes are too much work.  Do you have any idea how hard it to walk in 10 inch platforms?  I know my loyal fans will understand.  After all, I still have my boobs, and they really like those!” she reasoned.

Reportedly, her OnlyFans account saw a boost of over 1000 new subscribers this morning.

“There must be many fans out there with a Crocs fetish,” she concluded.  “I plan on buying as many colours and styles as I can!  Especially those sexy KISS Crocs!  I bet they look hot with silver anklets!”

Is there anything you don’t like about Crocs, we asked her?

“Just that you can’t see my pretty toe rings and pedicure!” she winked.  With that, @MarriedandHeels logged onto Amazon to order a pair in hot pink.  “See you April 7 on Grab A Stack of Rack!” she said to her fans in a statement.

We have reached out to @MarriedandCrocs for more information, but she said “You’ll just have to like and subscribe to Grab A Stack of Rack for more!”

To be continued…

Watch her crunching leaves in her Crocs!

VHS Archives #135: Extreme sign autographs in Scarborough, Ontario (1991)

Not much to be said here, just four guys at a mall signing autographs for throngs of fans! From the Pepsi Power Hour.

Youtubin’: Static-X – “Push It” (Live in Orlando, FL 3-15-23)

I don’t mind me a little Static-X. Listening to a whole album of these songs in one sitting is a little much, but taken one at a time, their music is heavy, fun, and bizarrely catchy. A lot of that had to do with the unique vocal stylings of the late lead singer, Wayne Static.

Today, Static-X are touring as a tribute to Wayne, with a man named Xer0 fronting them, wearing an eye-catching Wayne-like robot suit.  Xer0 is said to be portrayed by Edsel Dope, of the band Dope, and friend of Static-X.

I think this is a pretty cool way for a band to carry on when the frontman is gone forever.  Bassist Tony Campos is passionate and enthusiastic, and the crowd eat it all up!
